annoying nitpick: I think that card found after the racquetball match was a matchbook.
Mainly I wanted to say that the first season of Baywatch Nights, when you strip away the barely competent writing and stupid beach show roots… is an attempt at the “boomer detective show”. So the forgettable cardboard cutout villains and mild sexual tension that never goes anywhere are all part of the stock episodic formula.
One other thing to note is how scattered and inconsistent the internal continuity of the Baywatch franchise really is. Actors, plotlines, relationships, character arcs, etc…just abandoned or forgotten about and then suddenly brought back from the dead only to be left unresolved once more.
