I would call this stereotyped and insensitive, but…I just finished my dinner from Panda Express, so maybe now’s not the best time for a lesson on multiculturalism.
This episode reminded me of Premium Rush for some reason.
It strikes me that not even once in my life have I heard someone complain about Asian immigrants in my country, rather, I’ve often heard people bring them up as an example of a good immigrant — a person that obeys the law, tries their best to integrate and contribute to society. Sadly, the quality of immigrants from the Middle East and North Africa is absolutely awful in comparison.
I guess we can mark this as another example of that time period when shows wanted to show they cared for different social groups that often get marginalized (like in that little people episode), but wound up not doing it very well. Good ol’ casual racism when it came to the music.
