Is red wind a play on red tide? Also, sex pollen plot in Baywatch…huh.

“Red Wind” is the title of a Raymond Chandler story:

“There was a desert wind blowing that night. It was one of those hot dry Santa Anas that come down through the mountain passes and curl your hair and make your nerves jump and your skin itch. On nights like that every booze party ends in a fight. Meek little wives feel the edge of the carving knife and study their husbands’ necks. Anything can happen. You can even get a full glass of beer at a cocktail lounge.”

I doubt this episode is referencing it though. I have serious doubts that the Baywatch writers ever read Raymond Chandler. Or anything with words exceeding three syllables for that matter.

I barely remember anything from watching Baywatch during it’s actual run, but I always seem to remember that bit about the wind blowing a tarot card into Pamela Anderson’s cleavage because it was so ridiculous even for a show as blatantly boob focused as this one.

“My breasts have spoken…” That line made my day.

In any other show, that “love is in the air” plot would mean all the main characters start trying to get with each other, even those who were already in other relationships. ESPECIALLY those who were already in other relationships. And it would all be conveniently forgotten by the next episode. But not Baywatch, oh no, this show is far too wily and canny to fall into THAT cliched plot trap!

So the main plot was Mitch and Geraldo Rivera. Did CJ and Destiny’s plot and the plot about the father of the drowned girl actually go anywhere, or were they just around to pad out the run time?

I think it bears repeating, it’s a shame Lisa Stahl wasn’t a regular until I guess Baywatch Nights? She’s got that perfect balance of charming and clueless, and she’s just so darn cute!

Geraldo Rivera as very 90s TV nerd…it has to be seen to be fully understood.

    That’s gold.

Also, the plot where they try to make more like Mitch, then Mitch tries to be a jerk and she likes him more…those have been on every stupid kids sitcom ever.

Keep it up Alison! Glad the Baywatch Movie seems to have inspired you to do a bunch of these.

A plot including horny wind on Baywatch? I’m surprised this didn’t come up sooner actually.

    Random Casting Note:

The Dad was John O’Hurley.  He has voiced ‘King Neptune’ on ‘SpongeBob SquarePants’ a few times (seemingly when Jeffrey Tambor is busy).

The Hoff is famously in ‘The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie.’

…however, he doesn’t voice ‘Neptune’ in said Movie.  So close!

Ah, yes. Geraldo Rivera. The most intimidating of men. I can see why Mitch felt threatened by him.
