Congratulations Allsion, you weren’t a colossal dick. A&W soda on me, but you’re paying.

Mitch is gigantic to everyone, he just shifts size to those he dislikes.

Mitch has his heart set on people who beat other to win, unless it’s done to him.

A good episode of Baywatch? Is this the only one, or are others slightly okay?

Back when Daniel Tosh was just a raunchy comedian, and not the unfunny host of the world’s most offensive TV show, he had a good joke about the Special Olympics.

“She was in the Olympics, you know, the one you’re not supposed to laugh at, but when you watch the hurdles they knock over EVERY SINGLE ONE, and you start to giggle, and now you’re going to Hell? That’s not fair. They’re supposed to be athletes, but Reuben on lane six is chewing on the second hurdle. Sorry, I found that funny.”

Ring of the Musketeers, with David Hasselhoff as “John Smith D’Artagnan,” Alison Doody as “Ann-Marie Athos,” and  Cheech Marin as “Burt Aramis.” This is a thing that exists.

IMDB says: Modern day “Musketeers” attempt to live the lives of protectors of the innocent. While the biking trio rescue kidnapped children, guard witnesses and chase mafia types, they also seek the missing fourth musketeer, who wears the famous musketeers’ ring.

Apparently it was a 1992 TV movie. I wonder if it was an unsold pilot. Regardless, I must see it.

    Hey,

I created an account just to comment on this.  I’m a special education teacher and commend you, Allison, for your care with this.  I enjoy your other work as well, but I really think you nailed this one to a tee.

Olympic medalist Mary Lou Retton got Mitch-lested all episode. Can’t blame him too much, she maintained her super-cute girl next door looks and infectious positivity.

Seeing several episodes reviewed in a row, and every single review so funny and entertaining, makes me wonder what you’ll tackle after all eleven seasons of dumb beach show. Keep up the fantastic and consistently funny work Allison!

I actually met Hasselhoff for an interview on Gamescom last month. I have been enjoying this show since the beginning, and I grew up with Knight Rider, so it was kind of great to meet the man. Open and funny, and very keen on talking about himself – of course. It’s in Swedish, but for those interested I guess google translate can make it readable.

I remember seeing an interview with David Hasselhoff on Regis and Kathie Lee back when that show existed (I have no idea why I was watching that). He seemed very likable and charismatic, ready to laugh at his music career. He even made the joke that he’s sold three albums in America because his mom bought them.

Knight Rider was awesome (viewed through nostalgia goggles). My mom would make me go to bed before the episodes ended. I doubt Universal Studios Theme Park still has a talking replica of KIT that you can sit in like when I was 10.

Yeah, he was really likeable. His stories about how he would scare people with a life sized doll of himself, from the Spongebob Squarepants movie (yup, that’s a real “doll” they are dragging behind a boat at the end – complete with individual hairs put in with great care for that bushy Hasselhoff effect), were really entertaining.

I looked up actress Andrea F. Friedman because I thought I recognized her as the girlfriend from Life Goes On. Her IMDb page says she also appeared in an episode of Family Guy… um…

Despite the subject matter, you did a pretty job of finding the funny moments.

What exactly was the problem? It’s the characters that you would be making fun of and not the kids themselves. I don’t get the logic behind how an actor’s medical condition can make his character immune to criticism.

Taking Sammy as an example, she is a girl with Down’s Syndrome who has confidence issues, played by a girl with Down’s Syndrome, and her story is not comedic or badly handled. So….I don’t really know what there was to make fun of there. I made fun of the story where it called for it. 😉

Wow… I have no words for an actually good episode of Baywatch. I guess I always just assume it’s gonna be hilariously flailing incompetence piled onto insensitively poorly thought out plot points about serious topics… I’m not prepared for competence from this show.

Ah well, you did a really good job covering it–don’t worry about coming across like an ass while talking about the disabled, being disabled myself I can tell ya most of us don’t care. It’s mostly crybabies who aren’t disabled, but THINK disabled people can’t handle a little joke and think they need to speak out on their behalf, that get offended by such things, and I don’t even think most of those types of people would object to your coverage of this episode.

Being funny with this episode feels like you were doing a tightrope walk in a heavy wind over a wood chipper. And you made it through without doing a Fargo on yourself!

If there’s one this I learned from ‘Baywatch’ it’s that physical beauty doesn’t matter.
