Taking a look at the rather interesting marketing for the beginning of English Pokemon on this promo VHS tape. Meet all the characters you never wanted to exist like Ash’s Aunt Hillary and his science teacher!

Hey, it’s Suede. How nostalgic <3
Saw a documentary about how American store chains usually die swiftly in Canada, so I am legit surprised Toys Я Us Canada outlived its American counterpart. Maybe they don’t charge the same outrageous prices my mom wined about in the 80s & 90s.
I’d love to watch seasons 1-3 in Japanese, but despite it’s popularity & how badly it was dubbed, it was never fansubed or given a legal Japanese release. Maybe Crunchyroll will licence it someday now that 4Kids is long gone. 4kids (& DiC) were bastards who destroyed everything they touched, but I guess Yugioh Abridged wouldn’t have been borne out of jest/spite without their meddling. & bless LittleKuriboh, he’s still soldiering on with that show.
14:50 Lol, is that the new art style? It looks like a shitty bottom-dollar Cartoon Network parody. XD
Godda ketch all dem Polkaminz.
I’m honestly glad that I’ve stopped watching the Pokemon anime (except for the movies)….
and started watching “real” anime such as Gundam, Cardcaptor Sakura, HeartCatch Precure, and Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha….
Ah, the rice ball donuts. That was so stupid.
Ash’s Aunt Hillary would late be the subject of a terrible smear documentary by Dinesh D’Souza when she ran for Mayor of Pallet Town.
Ah, good ol’ 4Kids. Trying to westernize everything because they think kids are to dumb to comprehend things from foreign cultures.
Never saw this VHS “special” before. I guess it’s because my family never really shopped at Toys R Us.
