Loved the costumed skit at the beginning.

Sweet! It feels like it’s been half a year since anyone on Channel Awesome has reviewed a horrible cartoon.

Ah, I’ve seen this before. I rented it back in the VHS days. I figured the maid was supposed to be Mary Reilly.

I thought the art style looked familiar & I was right; it’s the same animation company that did that ultra racist Count Duckula series, & the awesome Legends of Treasure Island.

…. Count Duckula was racist? To the level of ‘ultra racist’?

… I don’t know what the hell cartoon you were watching, but unless you’re one-quarter Mallard, I don’t see how anyone would be offended by that show.

Duckula himself isn;t a racist, but that series is racist as fuck. The villains are all the type of gross racist stereotypes from silver age comic books & banned Looney Tunes episodes.

I think adapting Frankenstein would have been a better idea, as there you could atleast cut down the murders and give it a happier ending. I will give them credit for trying atleast, but they should have known the end result would be more macabre than good.

Just… wow… I admit, I was skeptical about watching this one, but I’m glad I stuck with it. This was so much funnier than I expected a public domain cartoon to be.Add to that a fantastic review (one of the funniest you’ve done in a while!), and this was the best 4th of July ever (except it totally wasn’t). And now I have to check my damn mirrors every day for Phelouses! *shudder*

On the subject of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde this isn’t the only animated adaptation. Back in the 80’s there was a saturday morning special where O.G. Readmore (A PSA delivering cat that would tell of the wonders and enjoyment of reading for pleasure) went into the story. Needless to say it was alot more goofy than scary and had absolutely no killing, unless you count the part where Robert Louis Stevenson writes people out of the story at the end.

That’s still a bit like just being included in something sense the cat enters the story but still I meant like a stand alone animated film rather than an episode of a TV show like that.
