Nice job of the 90’s getup for this video.
I first heard about the Barbarian Brothers from Spoony’s review of The Barbarians, a weird movie where the title characters dress as Conan rip-offs, and where they have that inhaling roar which sound juvenile and stupid.
2:47– The plot of this movie makes me wish I was watching The Pacifier starring Vin Diesel right now, and I never seen that movie yet except some clips on TV. I like to imagine in an alternate universe, George Lazenby played James Bond in more movies, and he would never star in shit like this. 7:57– I don’t know whether to say “You know, for kids” or “A ‘family’ picture.” I think this movie just melted my brain to nothingness.
All right, some midriff fan service totally obscured during the review! Keepin’ it classy. đ
Anyways, I kinda wanna see this movie now. It seems like my cup of tea — i.e., something I would force other people to watch with me so I can have the satisfaction of watching them suffer while at the same time I have a darn good time.
Ultrafeminine fashion sense is what I was thinking the whole time, very early 90s dying days of hair metal…making this movie feel already outdated by it’s 1994 release date. I do think the tone of this fit in pretty well with the WCW/WWF wrestling and bad syndicated shows of the time though. Baywatch was already a thing, and Hercules would come soon after.
I remember watching this a lot as a kid on VHS. I think, this first introduced me to an idea of watching *not good* movies just for laughs, and so I did with this and Three Ninjas, and I was like five. I guess I just liked silly slapstick though
I was stuck in traffic behind these two on Mullholland Dr. back in the 90’s…. Â it was quite a sight to behold, 2 giant guys squeezed into a jeep. Anyhoo, I remember these guys were also in “D.C. Cab” Â and i think it was they’re debut performance.
The twin kids were the kid who was getting beaten in Kindergarten Cop and was told to say He fell to Arnold. Which might have been what they were going for when asked by the teacher, it still fits with the black humor.
I think the greater mystery here is why so many movies & tv shows in the 90’s featured twins. I’ve never seen this movie nor have I ever heard of these two bodybuilders/actors. and I tend to remember watching shows like Seaquest DSV, Rescue 911, VR Troopers, & Street Sharks. overall, nicely done Lupa.
say, I have a movie request that I think both you and Phelous can do together. it’s a 1999 sci-fi fantasy action film called Beowulf (which is loosely based on the old epic poem). it was released by Dimension/Miramax films, and the actor who they got to play as the character was none other that Lord Rayden himself: Christopher Lambert. that’s not all, the composer for this film is the same exact composer who did music for both Mortal Kombat Defenders Of The Realm & Mortal Kombat Conquest along with Ben Watkins from Juno Reactor (who has also done some music for the 2 Mortal Kombat films specifically Control & Conga Fury). interested?
Never heard of the Barbarian brothers before. They look like the 80s trying to be the 90s and not quite succeeding.
These types of movies were really ubiquitous in the 90s, weren’t they? The one where some personality that’s obviously not a babysitter type has to take care of some bratty rich kids who are neglected by their parents and therefore act up and cause a ruckus for the babysitter character. And I thought Mr. Nanny hit that bar pretty low. They’re up there with those movies trying to rip off Home Alone…or the sequels of Home Alone.
I have no interest in checking this movie out. It seems like another one that’s just supposed to hit all the tropes. It doesn’t feel original at all.
After some research it turns out the Barbarian Brothers stars in a movie that Richard Kiel cameos in, Think Big.
Looks like another winner though, directed by Jon Turtletaub and with cameos from Michael Winslow of The Police Academy and Richard Moll from Night Court!
I don’t think I’ve mentioned before that I love all your retro outfits! Where do you get them, second hand shops or relatives or something? I used to have some awesome 70s hippie “costume” clothes as a kid handed down from my mom, but they all got chucked away when I got older. ;(

I remember watching this one on the Movie Channel when it first came out.
I believe those guys kept trying to make everyone eat their SPAZgetti, as they called it, but no one wanted to.
Plan on tackling Never Too Young To Die eventually?
Yay, a new video! Oh, God! This was fun. đ I must say that the idea of a twin-centered⊠action (?) movie sounds really cool.

TWINSPLOSION!
That jacket is deliciously late 80s/early 90s. So cool. Do want.
I was the kind of little girl who watched The Barbarians, Cherry 2000, & still likes them.
This was directed by Mr. Mekalekahai, Mekahainiho?
Man, these guys have a superbly ultrafeminine fashion sense. & they’re not afraid to flaunt it.
Yes, as we all know, the SNESÂ shuts down when the gamepads are no longer connected.
I would totally watch this ^_^

Ya know, there was a twin craze in teh 80s and 90s my twin and I missed out on getting in on. Doh.
The first random accent, and their hair… anyone else have a Wiseau flashback?

Also this movie looks amazing, I need more Barbarian Brothers!

Wait a minute…. Richard Kiel AND Richard Moll? OK, I’ve gotta see this.

Thanks! I just collect them, I also get a lot of stuff from Ragstock.
3:19 : hey, a young Chaos D1!
This may be a relatively old video but I’m commenting anyway
