Halloweenie Season 4

A bit of unfortunate news, Halloweenie Season 4 won’t be happening this October.

I had a goal set for the 4th Season on Patreon and it hasn’t gotten met. There were a few different things I wanted to do for the next season of Halloweenie and I would want to have started planning for it by now if it was returning.

But don’t worry if you like the silly Halloween host I’m still planning to do at least 1 special with him so there will be that and if we hit the goal before December I could bring him back for Christmas this year instead. If not there’s always next year.

Halloweenie isn’t canceled forever… yet, heh.

Would adding a $4-$5 incentive on Patreon help do you think? I can’t even wrap my head around how people get more Patreon supporters, and I’m guessing a Halloweenie Kickstarter wouldn’t work.

Kinda sounds like you’re holding us hostage on this. Like, “If I get a ton more supporters on Patreon RIGHT NOW, Halloweenie will still have a chance!”

I don’t mind too much, though, as I missed Halloweenie last year during my year-long Blip boycott. (It ended when Blip ended… Coincidence?) I’ll just watch those episodes this year. But I wonder… What would Pumkinweenie have to say about this announcement?

Uh no, I said it’s too late at this point because I’d want to have all ready been planning stuff by now.
I know some people were expecting the next season so I wanted them to know it wasn’t going to happen.

Bit sad to hear, but I get it. Without the proper funding for newer, larger things it’d just be a rehash of the past years. Fingers crossed we get the fourth season sometime soon, I’d love to see Halloweenie tackle cheap Christmas decorations. Heck I bet he’d be funny to watch review any holiday.

I’ve been checking your Patreon monthly to check if we were getting any closer to Defenders of the Realm, so I’ve suspected for a long time Halloweenie wasn’t happening this year. I assume that many feel you put out too many videos per month for them to afford that $10 per video. Will Patreon allow you to also have the option to get monthly donations at the same time?

I registered just to make this comment.

I am saddened to see this awesome series being put behind a paywall.  I could easily stomach an excuse of “I’m too busy,” or “I’m sick of doing Halloweenee” before I could handle the truth of “I had a goal set for the 4th Season on Patreon and it hasn’t gotten met.”  I know of a few people who do videos on YouTube for their job and they constantly have content behind a paywall.  Of course they treat their fans like absolute garbage and they (for some bizarre reason) still give them money each month.  You treat your fans with respect, and constantly put out a quality product (2015 being sub-normal, which I’ll explain later)…but this really stings to see someone like you doing it.

I also understand that people who do this type of thing (videos of whatever subject) are making less money.  That’s why most of who I have watched since 2009/2010 have their own Paytreon accounts now.  Before this trend, the major reason why something couldn’t be done was because they just didn’t have the time in their schedule.  Now, it’s because X amount of dollars was not given.  Sad.  Whatever happened to just making videos to entertain/have fun?  Are “Internet Celebrities” (I don’t what other title to give you guys and gals who do videos) really hurting for cash right now?

I have also noticed that you yourself Phelous seem a bit down/depressed in 2015.  All of the videos that I’ve seen this year have you in a mood that doesn’t seem the norm.  You just seem to be burned out, or it is something else.  The energy just isn’t there.  Your latest DBZ video (which covered a great topic) had the content there, but your presentation vocally seemed poor.  You did the DBZ voices fine mind you, it’s just your delivery for jokes or facial expressions didn’t seem like typical Phelous to me.

Of course I’ll have all of the hardcore fanboys/fangirls getting on my case, and you know what…I don’t care.  I am a fan of Phelous and will speak my mind about this.  Phelous is what made me check out the TGWTG site.  He’s in my top 3 for people who were/are still associated with that site (channel awesome is the name).  Label me as someone who won’t let go of the past, but this whole Paytreon thing disgusts me, but I know why it’s used.  All it takes is for one subject to be ignored just because it didn’t bring in money and you’ll have someone (like me) complaining about it.

I’ve stuck with Phelous even when the movie reviews seem to take a break.  I enjoyed the toy/knockoff toy reviews, as well as any video game related reviews that come out.  I wish that we’d see more of Phelous playing video games, but I seriously doubt that we’ll get that.  At least we already have Phelous playing the two most important horror games already (Resident Evil and Silent Hill).  I have given up on other people after their content had changed, or their videos per month dropped down to almost nothing.  Phelous and a few others were always on my mind for me to check for any new videos.

Will I continue to watch Phelous?  Yes.  Will the hurt go away from the whole Paytreon fiasco?  No.  Do I understand why it had to be this way?  Yes, but I still don’t like it.  I guess the old saying is true.  All good things must come to an end.  🙁

Dude, he’s still doing the ONE Halloweenie special this year. Yeah, it’s not one episode every week, but it’s not like he’s completely withholding the character from us. It even says on his patreon that filming Halloweenie is a huge effort on his part, so I don’t blame him holding off on even more episodes if the funds and time aren’t there.

Look I enjoy what I do and if you didn’t like the DBZ vid, sorry, I put a lot of effort into that.
Overall that video seems to have gone over well but I can’t always please everyone.

But I had a reason I set a certain goal for the next season for Halloweenie. I wanted to put more money into it and evolve the show a bit.
That’s no different than any of these other projects that have gotten made because of kickstarter and the like.
I didn’t make this post about it to try and say “HEY GIVE ME THE MONEY” it was to let people that were still expecting it this year what was up.
If things get funded they get made, if they don’t they don’t, that’s kinda how these things work.

If I didn’t have ambition for the show I certainly would never have sweat my ass off under a giant skull for 13 episodes and still be planning to do at least one this year.

I would have figured that in Canada, it’s COLD during that month.  Also, why do something that apparently was NOT FUN for you to do?  I would have figured that one Halloween would have done it (since as you said “sweat my ass off under a giant skull”), but you went on to do two more years after that (not sure if Year 3 was funded by Patreon since I’m not a hardcore fanboy stalker who watches your EVERY move like some people here).

Let me guess, you were butthurt when Lewis dared to ask people to not use Adblock on his videos too?

Last I heard, the bulk of Patreon users quit their office jobs to do their video series full time as a dream job & their Patron funds are how they pay bills & put food on their tables.

Phelous seems pretty happy to me. In fact, while all my other content producers have cut the amount of videos they do by 50-70%, Phelous has doubled if not tripled his output over the past few years, tried a lot of new things.

As for Halloweenie season 4, I tbelioeve that’s been a goal on his Patreon account since he put up the Patreon account.  You’d know that I’f you’d ever bothered to look at it.

Let me guess, you’re the type of person who has magical powers and know EXACTLY what I do 24/7?

I have watched maybe 5 videos made by Linkara.  THAT’S IT!

I used to have ad block turned OFF for those people who I RESPECTED and was helping them that way.  Apparently Paytreon is the new “Thing” so I won’t suffer watching anymore annoying ads and have turned it back on for EVERYONE!  It should matter (according to you Mr. Expert) since these people now make all of their income based off of other people’s donations.

Oh, so the idea of doing videos AND working a normal job is out of the question huh?  For one particular person who is on YouTube (and doesn’t deserve to be named here), he last worked a regular job back in 2010 I think.  He will NEVER work a normal job again, since he’s so fucking lazy and will do the absolute BARE MINIMUM for his videos (while even LYING on Paytreon with a goal just to change it after receiving about six months worth of monthly payments, since he couldn’t be bothered to make the video series anymore).  He will constantly bitch about not having money (yet spends a ton of it on crappy fast food, or spoiling his girlfriend with crap), and loves to have pity parties to his fans in hopes that they will donate him money each month.

If Phelous wants to depend on his videos (and Patreon) as his ONLY support, then fine.  It just isn’t smart to SURVIVE that way.  That’s why a huge majority of people have normal jobs/careers.  I’m not going to pretend to know how Phelous has been making money (normal jobs and videos, or just videos, or whatever), but if the monthly amount is low JUST from doing videos, then common sense would say to AT LEAST get a part-time job to balance it out.

Just from your posts here, you seem like the type of person who would never say anything negative about Phelous…even if it was true.  So your “seems pretty happy to me” comment means nothing.  He could appear to be super depressed, and the ONLY way you’d say something is if Phelous himself said it first.  Then you’d give the whole “I thought that you seemed different” B.S. response.

I’ve seen his Patreon account, and even ALMOST donated to it.  What to guess why I didn’t Mr. Expert?  It’s because he does it per video instead of one amount per month.  I’ve donated to others who let you choose the amount that you wish to give by month.  I don’t know how many videos he plans to do each month, so my amount would vary.  Plus, after seeing how Phelous responded to my post (which from how I read it, seemed honest) I probably wouldn’t want to donate to him even if he changed to a monthly amount vs per video.  He just isn’t the same likable person as he was from 2014 and back.  This is MY OPINION about it, so anyone can say that Phelous is still PERFECT (that’s your cue Mr. Expert), but to me I feel that the stress of not making enough money is showing in his videos.

You know what.  Fuck it.  Maybe I just need to stop watching Phelous videos.  That way I won’t need to waste time leaving my thoughts on his site.  Or have “Experts” post garbage guesses about strangers.  I have enough info from the posts here to show that I’m living in the past and that Phelous isn’t the same person as he was years ago.  I apparently care too much about the well being on Phelous, so I need to just turn my back and walk away.  He’s a big boy, and eventually his money problem will work itself out.  Or not.  I don’t care either way, since I’m done with this drama.  I watch Phelous videos to get a laugh.  Lately, I’m just seeing a shadow of Phelous’ former self making videos for cash…instead of FUN.

Phelous stated on his Patreon that Halloweenie S4 was tied to the Patreon goal. Phelous is informing us why Halloweenie S4 isn’t happening. Any/all comments you made after that are already beyond necessary and to call them baseless excuses to go on your stupid particular tirade on what Phelan should do would be generous. I don’t really know who you are to think you can go accusing him (of all people) of doing these videos out of personal greed, but let me assure you don’t represent me and most other patrons who are so far very happy with the effort he’s putting on giving us fun and silly stuff. All the same I can say that I enjoyed the DBZ video although some of the stuff on it I already knew, in big part due to the good editing and jokes.

Now go forth on your valiant boycott without fear dude, maybe find some other reviewer to patronize with your intensely ignorant bile.

Also remember, you can’t reply to this!

We don’t really need super-defensive  cheapskates who tell free entertainment how they should be doing their jobs & shaming them for trying to make a living off it, leaving their ungodly lengthy opinions here to provoke arguments, especially when they insist on getting the last word by refusing further debate. You’re more of a Youtube style comenter.

it’s a darn shame. I’ll always be grateful for the films he gave us especially since my most favorite horror movie is Wes Craven’s New Nightmare. when I used to be on Twitter, I did get a few chances to speak to him, and he was quite a nice guy. he will be deeply missed.

that’s cool. I use to just watch horror movies on AMC. but in recent years, I stopped watching movies on regular cable due to the fact that they censor it to death. and sometimes it’s never consistent. when I was in middle school during the late 90’s & early 2000’s, I was big into horror movies. we would sometimes rent movies for the weekend since they offered 5 movies for 5 days for $5. it was also during the time when Suncoast used to be open & when McFarlane used to make the Movie Manics figures. I deeply miss that store since they offered movie posters, anime, and certain movies that most stores didn’t carry.

the only horror movies I’ve tried to watch once per day was both the Friday The 13th films and in recent years the Halloween films. which btw, Halloween 6 Producer’s Cut is finally getting an individual release. it was for a while only available through the limited edition box set (which you can still find available, so I don’t know why it’s called a limited edition when it’s sold in numerous online stores), but now it’s being released this Tuesday (9/15/2-15) on blu-ray by Lionsgate.

You really shouldn’t have mentioned the Patreon goal, Phelan. Haven’t you heard? — wanting money for something you do on the internet makes you a sell-out. Don’t worry though, your real (deadbeat) fans got your back: we won’t donate, but we’ll totally sympathize with you — feeding a crack… I mean a rare Chinese knock-off habit isn’t cheap.

In case it’s unclear, most of that is sarcasm and I greet the news of not getting a full season of one of my favorite shows with sadness but also understanding and acceptance.

Awh that’s a bummer, but understandable. I saw a similar Halloween skull for sale the other day at a local place and that thing was like $80USD. Halloween is expensive!!! I only recently watched your Halloweenie episodes and I really appreciate all the work that goes into them (and all your videos) so I wish you only the best. If it helped I would send you some candy and bad movies, if only to watch you and Allison riff them. Or something. I love your videos with her, I’m all about more let’s plays! Resident Evil had me laughing hysterically when you died when you left the room – if only because I know that has happened with me and my husband (RE5 tho, not RE1) so…I feel your pain.

    Good luck and best wishes!

Now, this is a comment not to the to-be legendary bonafide douche above (who left forever or something, good riddance) but anyone who thinks that he was onto something.

    No.

Halloweenie is more than just wearing a big skull on one’s head. There is a lot of editing (have you even seen the show?), lots of materials needed to be purchased to be reviewed for short gags, and I can imagine that doing multiple takes of those voices may be exhausting. It is the most difficult show to do on the site and the most expensive.

Patreon is a superior service to commercials, and is a way to actually supply the producer with income instead of commercials which many people block anyway.

I recently doubled my Patreon which will go on onto the end of the year after which it will return to the original amount (due to my own economic situation). Keep on the good work, I am looking forward to the special!

I registered just to reply to this thread,  I just recently started watching Alison and Phelous as a show of support after the whole channel awesome douchery. So I’m not saying this as a life-long fangirl but I find myself enjoying both of them a lot. Their review style is very approachable and funny halloweenie series and OLP subspecies series and Raadu reviewsare two of my fave reviews ever . I don’t see how there’s room to complain here, as long as they videos are still free to watch they’re not obligating you. The goals are benefits to the viewers to bring them something more than usual. I was bummed when i saw the halloween season approaching and that the goal wasn’t met, but I am so glad Phelous is doing the  special, considering he doesn’t have to. Though I would love to see Halloweenie’s take on christmas, “A Christmas wreath, you can use it as a noose to hang yours–I mean, to decorate your door. . .

You’re both very funny but very approachable and you don’t take yourselves too seriously which  *certain people* at CA are guilty of. I’m a big fan of Halloweenie, Radu Reviews the Subspecies  series and your cartoon special reviews. So glad to have found you guys, I personally would love to see Halloweenie take on christmas: “A Christmas wreath, you can use it as a noose to hang yours–I mean, decorate your door. . .”

The Halloweenie segments have always brought a lot of great laughs, man, sorry to hear the goals didn’t go this year but it’s always a real treat to get a new episode of anything Halloweenie.  Heck I was delighted seeing him cameo in other videos like the Aladdin time travel cartoon.  Here’s to your future endeavors with the character, and thanks for all you’ve already done.  It is appreciated and enjoyed, truthfully.
