From the previews of this movie, I am not surprised that it is a cross between FearDotCom.Com and Pulse. Yet, it sounds worse than them while bringing nothing new to the table. Since all it does is change from stupid website to skype and gets based around cyber bullying.
I’m glad this movie is only 13 minutes long. Not Unfriended but this specific video since I can’t imagine a movie with a single scene lasting 90 minutes, that would just be crazy. Almost as crazy as spending $90,000 on a game show with such expensive games as that $10 magnetic fishing game I had when I was 5.
The title alone was enough to let me know I didn’t want to see it. The poster was enough to make me think it was going to be a piece of crap. But the frigging aggressively obnoxious add campaign they’ve been running for what feels like years now managed to make me actively dislike this movie without even seeing so much as a full trailer.
And now it’s getting decent (if not stellar) reviews. Whatever; it could be the beautiful love child of Casablanca and Alien for all I care; I ain’t seeing it.
It’ll be hilarous when some 20-something years later people will watch this movie and have no idea what the heck it is about, since Skype and Facebook will probably be long gone by then.
I think they will understand it. After all, young, people who see “The Ring” today, still understand the concept of a VHS tape even if they have never seen one.
In 20 yrs time Skype and Facebook might not exist as such anymore, but messenger programs and social media will most probably still be there.
Not that this movie is any good, but even if tech changes, some basics are still the same. There is a big difference between a magnetic tape, a floppy disk and a USB key… but in the end they are all the same type of device (memory storage), hence people can still relate or understand even if something is outdated.
The problem with this movie, rather than the setting, is the paper-thin plot… skype and FB are then just gimmicks in the movie and will feel outdated pretty soon.
Dear god, I really need to see this movie. It looks like trash, it’s premise is trash, and Phelous, you really need to do a review on this. Honestly, this looks like this could give some material.
I have not seen this movie nor do I want to. This is just a general comment. Scary movies are my favorite and it is so bad now. The new movies are so boring nothing happens for most of the movie I doze off. Then the last 15 minutes of it I am jolted awake by the loud music of a jump scare or lame end of movie non twist. So sad.
this movie seems like one of those things that sounds good only during the early concept stage, but when you actually go to do it the idea starts falling apart. Which I get the feeling that when the people involved in this started a having the feelings that the idea was starting to fall apart, they just ignored the feeling and continued on regardless. That or they truly believed that everything they were doing was super interesting and had to be made. Probably the latter if this was made to be an anti-bully thing and they felt it had a “message” that had to be sent.
When I first saw trailers for this movie, I thought it could be interesting horror movie with the victims being completely isolated from each other using only skype as their only source of communication with the outside world while the killer(s) mess with them before picking each one off (perhaps in order of the one least to the most responsible for the cyber-bullying.) BUT then I lost complete interest in the movie when I realized that the whole thing would be shown from the perspective of skype webcam chats…
Everyone old enough to see horror movie sin 2002 went into this movie knowing it was going to be bad, & that they’d already seen it 3 times with a different name & cast.
Possible future clones.

If someone gave me $200 and a case of yuengling i could make this movie in a weekend. I wanted to unfriend my eyes from my skull. People screaming “fuck” over a skype chat is not a movie. And the least they could’ve done was make the people LIKEABLE. One dude was a rapist who forced a girl to get an abortion, the girls all bullied another bully into killing herself and then posted the video, jesus fuck, and then the boyfriend was ultraviolent and possessive to the point of disgust. I don’t know why this movie has good reviews. It’s awful. Critics must be getting paid to say good things because this movie is the trash heap that trash heaps look down upon…
trust me Phelous, I’ve seen a trailer for an upcoming horror film that is potentially worse than this film called The Gallows. it’s the same hand held bullshit with jackass characters you wont be rooting for, jump scares upon jump scares, and the same advertisements used for Paranormal Activity showing night vision footage of audience members getting scared. it’s pretty bad. but still, one of the most dumbest ideas for a horror movie that I have been against since day 1 is a film that is possibly in production called Maulers. it’s directed by the same guy who directed The Blair Witch Project and they’re attempting to shoot the film at the abandoned mall across the street. it’s one of the dumbest ideas I’ve ever heard in my life. not just because of the plot itself, but because of location. here’s the so called plot and I quote (cough): “MAULERS is about an illegal rave that these people put on in an abandoned mall, and all the invitations are done through the Internet.” the reason why this movie’s concept doesn’t work is because A) it’s the same plot for just about every other horror movie in the past 10 years. B) he says that these people can’t bring cell phones to this rave so whatever happens, happens. so, they have no means of communication once they get caught in a elaborate trap that “a militant group has built to kill a bunch of people”. now they have no way of contacting the police because they got rid of their cell phones. and C), the abandoned mall that this film’s plot takes place, is sitting in a public area right next to the highway. keep in mind, I live 1 block away from this mall, and there’s always people walking and cars driving by. one end has a Home Depot and the other end has a Boscov’s. the film is not even out yet and already I have too many issues with it.
i am going to on on a limb and say i lied this movie, it was a fun watch i knew this was her ghost doing it, and i enjoyed watch d-bags online and in life get there owns. if you can put up with screens changing and texting. you will like don’t expect any deep twists it dose not try it to give us any. it is what it is.

A full review of this movie will be so great.

“Coming soon to a holo-cube near you.”
oh yes, this movie is destined to become dated. No one is gonna make a list of “timeless classics” years from now and put Unfriended on it.

I recommend “It Follows” –it’s pretty good and leaves you thinking afterwards, plus it’s pretty different from the rest of genre right now.

Yeah but those names are pretty great.
Oh, ICQ from the Beyond needs to be a parody of late-90s style horror.
Yay, it’s Shang Tsung! “Your terrible movie is mine! For value cost FREE!” The movie can’t be any worse than Dot Com for Murder… right?
So, is there gonna be a review of it?
Once it actually comes out on BR/DVD probably.
I’m not up on current movie releases usually, so this rant was the first I’ve heard of this ‘masterpiece.’ What’s next, IRC:The Movie?
Talk about a cash grab.
From looking at the trailer I knew that this movie was gonna suck

Hey Phelous any plans on doing a video on Mortal Kombat X?
I got it play it over at my friend’s in Toronto but I could record footage over there so not likely, unless I figure a way to get some.
Yo, the Phelous. You should have seen It Follows instead. Great, great movie.
Also, are you going to be in Linkara’s movie?
NNNNNOOOOPPPPEEEE!
First thing my friend said when the fat nerd guy died “Why was there a blender in his room…? Maybe that’s why he’s fat”

Man… what’s next? “Paint drying: The Movie”?
Unfriended really sounds as a very boring movie.
The concept in itself is not bad (a revenge story, in essence) but the way it was executed is really shit…
But you would have been perfect for the role of Linkara!
We screen tested for that but my take on Linkara had him just continuously reviewing his own story lines so Lewis fired me.
