Is that people in the late 90s and early 2000s were not yet sick of how annoying and terrible Eddie Murphy animated voice-overs were yet.
I know, that’s a comment about the Disney Film this is ripping off, but like how I was ahead of the curve on hating Shrek, I’m still waiting to be vindicated by popular opinion shifts that Eddie Murphy is the worst part of that movie!
Anyway, I did like original Mulan sans Eddie Murphy’s incessant attempts to replicate Robin William’s frantic, anachronistic Genie character. Was wondering when one of these would surface on your show!
Mulan is my favorite Disney movie. The Secret of Mulan is probably the laziest version of the story I can think of. All the songs in this suck so much that Phelous just skipped over them. The story of Mulan is pretty interesting, if you ask me, and deserves more then just “Turn it into a Bug War”.
Is it just me or does Atha-Khan look like a cockroach version of King Koopa from the DiC Mario cartoon trilogy dressed up in samurai armor?
And why did Mulan even marry that moth/butterfly Shang wannabe? She had more chemistry with Shing Shing. This mockbuster movie was really ahead of its time with LGBT representation. However, Nanoha Takamachi and Fate Testarossa Harlaown from the Lyrical Nanoha franchise are still the best representations of lesbian women in all of fiction (at least in my opinion) and it also helps that they are both total bad***es at that.
Oh, and I really want you to review Moses: Egypt’s Great Prince so badly. That one is a cheese goldmine.
And speaking of DiC, you should also watch and review Liberty’s Kids and Our Friend, Martin sometime in the future (preferably July). The former is a criminally underrated masterpiece in the world of edutainment and the latter must’ve been the inspiration for the Doctor Who episode, “Rosa”.
Maybe the secret was all of the scenes of this corny animated mockbuster we watched along the way.
Also, why does the artstyle remind me of the first seven seasons of Winx Club (especially seasons 1-4)?
I remember seeing a movie of Mulan in the 90s where the love interest dies at the end & she takes over his role as the leader, & for the life of me I have never been able to find this movie again.
Her design makes me think of those motorcycle centaur commercials.
Would have made a little more sense if Xing-Xing had been a DRAGonfly, then Mulan would have been the only girl in the army.
Worst voice actor get the role of the male lead? Lol.
