Pretty sure that plane on the “prototype screen” is a Veritech fighter from the Robotech cartoon (originally Macross in Japan).

Technically Robotech was an amalgamation of three different anime.

Man was I pissed when the Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross portion of Robotech ended without a conclusion. As for the Macross Plus movie…That plot was ripped straight from Roman Holiday.

Yup. all done to satisfy American children’s show syndication laws. You needed a certain number of episodes to be in daily rotation, and the original Macross was only 20-some.

Oddly enough, that’s probably what was responsible for the Real Ghostbusters syndication package to be so good. All those episodes had to be done and released together before it could air, so you had all those great episodes completed long before the Q5 meddling.

I don’t know what I was expecting, definitely not Peter Venkman chucking pokeballs and casting expelliarmus.

When Peter dies he is in the casket upside-down~ That could’ve influenced the weirdness rating a little, or maybe just the category you don’t honor- The stupid mistake category…

I had that flat RGB LCD game. The actual gameplay was different than the mini-arcade game shown in the video.

Well, this is far less awful than any of the LED games Ashens has reviewed, but I never got the appeal of Tiger Electronics/Game & Watch style games in the early 90s. I’d say to myself, what’s the appeal of a game where the entire game is just one map with no color or music, very limited animation, & you keep grinding on the same 4 constantly respawning enemies?  & yet….I loved Duck Hunt.

The Internets tell me Cina is a “derogatory” term in Indonesia to refer to anything Chinese.

Why the apparent confusion between the terms LCD (liquid-crystal display) and LED (light-emitting diode, as far as I know — or is that somehow also a proper term for liquid-crystal stuff?)? Phelan keeps saying “LED.”

My blood-glucose meter still uses those LCD sprites on a custom display. Probably cheaper and uses less power than newer technology.

Gotta’ say, it’s still about a million times better than the shitty WWE game I had as a kid.
