The Real Ghostbusters parodied The Simpsons in their 6th season episode Guess What’s Coming to Dinner. Ghost versions of the Simpsons show up and take over the firehouse though they all have parody names from Married with Children.

It’s great to finally get another Real Ghostbusters review. So the Real Ghostbusters did a parody of The Simpsons, a show that would eventually become tired and begging for death, when it was tired and begging for death.
I assume if Coullier tried to do Caddyshack Murray he would base it on Lost in Translation Murray.
Also, either the Ghostbusters left Ecto 1’s door logos behind when they went on vacation or the animators were extra clueless.
In the early years of Fox as a broadcast network, they were heavily criticized for running “trash” like Married with Children which was like their flagship show, and even The Simpsons was considered a subversive show that teaches your kids to be delinquents back then.
Wouldn’t surprise me if the writers were just trying to take a general swipe at Fox as a broadcast network, since in 1990 it was the big new thing and their programming was critically panned. Wasn’t really until X-files and the Simpsons became more respected (before driving itself into irrelevancy roughly a decade later) and then getting NFL Football (1994)that Fox became thought of as a serious competitor to NBC, ABC, and CBS.
