Glad you’re covering this, I enjoy how incredibly 90s “attitude” this is. Sometimes I would wonder why people a little younger then me saw the 90s as so “cheesy” and it’s because the stuff aimed at the younger set was so overwrought with this mentality.
While we cool 90s teens were listening to grunge, alt-rock, and gangsta rap, and watching Tarrantino movies and MST3K…they were shoveling some really hyperactive, pandering bullshit in front of the kids.
TMNT was probably my first ever favourite show when I was little, yet I don’t remember this series. Maybe I had just lost interest in the Turtles by the time this series aired. Not sure what I would have thought of it if I did see it. Or if I did, I have no memory. Maybe that’s a good thing.
Not sure why every character in this series has to be a dumbass, except Venus of course. Would it be wrong to call her a Mary-Sue since she always seems to be saving the day with her plot convenience magic? Perhaps that’s why the character is so disliked despite, like you said, her being one of the lesser problems of the series. Nobody likes Mary-Sue/Gary-Stu characters except their creators.
6 episodes down, 20 more to go. Phelous, I fear for your mental well being in having to watch this series.
