Wow, that was a painful one, but I stuck it out to the bitter end.

That’s about on par with the Pac-Man joke books from a few years earlier…no actually this is worse. Pac Man is a simple, mostly abstract game with characters designed only to fill game-play mechanics. Ghostbusters is a hit movie franchise starring some of the best comic actors of the 70s and 80s in a believable modern New York City, that someone manages to fit in a ton of supernatural paranormal lore.

    But anyway…really really bad.

The ghost and peanut butter may be the laziest “joke”…but the final rap-rap was the dumbest.

And finally…$2.50 for that piece of trash in 1988 dollars…holy crap what a rip-off.

This book reminds me of those placemats and kids’ meal boxes you get at fast food restaurants made to cash in on a particular franchise, full of lame jokes a 10-year-old would cringe at that are only tangentially connected to the franchise in question. As someone who sort-of specializes in bad jokes, I’ve heard or read some of those “zingers” in other joke books or on kids’ shows, these “authors” just inserted the word “ghoul” or “Ghostbuster” to make them relevant to the franchise.

I’m actually subscribed to 2 Dad Joke blogs on Tumblr, and those are better jokes than these yuks.

When you have the rights to make merchandise, but you don’t have the rights to the likenesses. Top tier incompetence.

So the first image….Am I the only one that thinks those 3 men look like they were drawn by completely different artists? & that the one on the bottom looks like young Bilbo Baggins?

This person definitely has artistic skill, & yet there’s just something lazy & unfinished about it. The fact that several of the faces are literally cut-&-paste isn’t helping.

Louis looking mighty derpy & witless there.

Every time I hear one of these jokes, a brain cell dies.

The Scholari brothers vaguely look like Wario & Waluigi done in Jojo Oingo Boingo style.

I remembered something…. I had a few Power Rangers books by the same company when I was a kid. I don;t remember the jokes being this godawful though.

Glad I’m not the only one who thought Egon looked like an anime character.

I remember having books that had jokes like these. I guess they’re rather fitting for a Ghostbusters theme since most of these jokes are GROANERS!

    Eh? Eh?

    I’ll leave….
