Someone PLEASE save Phelous from the sugary junk food that will possibly give him health problems if he eats too much of it for years and which he can easily avoid by not eating them at all! If no-one does, then Phelous will be mildly inconvenienced. AAAaaa… *cough* *cough*
Seriously though… I liked what you did at the end there, for realsies! 🙂
I couldn’t wait for this review to come out! The pop tarts were damn stupid. Although there were a few jump scares here and there through the games, the movies didn’t need that… it felt so pandering to the Paramoron Activity crowd. I really wanted to love this movie. I thought they were going to improve on what fans didn’t like from the first movie and being centered around my favorite SH character, I really had high hopes… Then I found out it was going to be in 3D so i knew it would have to be dumbed down some. 3d movies seem to suffer from that quite a bit. Then I had read the original writer/director who was slated to make SHR was arrested for vehicular manslaughter and the unfinished script landed in Mike Bassett’s hands and we end up with a movie that both tried fixing the errors from the first movie “the cult, pyramid head, Harry Mason” by tying them into this one somehow. Also a TON of fan pandering… the red shoe… shit like that, but they went about it all wrong… just because you show a memorable item from the original material, doesn’t mean the fan will care if you don’t use it the way it was meant to be used. In the end, I still enjoyed parts of SHR a lot, mainly because Adelaide Clemens was a great Heather, even if the script had some cringe-worthy moments.
Phelous, do you think there is any hope of a film getting James’ story right? Let’s say they take a less mainstream approach and hand the project over to a more independant team. They act like the first 2 movies didn’t happen and start fresh with a non-Sean Bean James Sunderland… Do you think a movie like that could happen? A true atmospheric Silent Hill experience condensed into a 90 minute movie… and have it still be successful? Or should we count our losses and stick to the games?
Come on, Phelous, why wouldn’t Leonard be a human? He looks like a monster to you?
Also, I lost it at Pyramid Head’s Big Damn Hero moment. From the silliness of that very concept to the appropriate scoring you added, it’s just comedy genius.
The thing I really don’t get about this movie is that on one hand they tried to make the story closer to that of the games, but then they completed disregarded elements and themes from the games as well with stuff like Vincent being a college kid as well as Heather’s love interest, the evil Heather having little to no meaning and of course Pyramid Head the Carny to the rescue.
He tried playing the Silent Hill games to get some research for the movie. However, he quit because they were “too scary for him”. Seriously.
On an unrelated note, it seems that video game movies are destined to fail, especially when the directors and writers seem to know jack all about the source material. I nominate Phelous to be the guy to make the next Silent Hill movie! Who’s with me?!
Since I really loved the game, I despised the movie. It completely ruined Heather, they ruined the feeling ofSilent Hill. They did it pretty well in the first movie, alone the scene where she walks through the town near the beginning, completely alone. I thought they would have a similar one in the second, but no. How about people staring at her. That would have been great in another film, probably, but not in Silent Hill, which should show us part of a person’s psyche. But I’m wishing for too much, I think. Just. Thank you for this review!

I’m sure glad I never watched this movie for real in the theatre or anything.
TOMAS! That was our 1st date, I can’t believe you forgot that.
What a scoop! TGWTG Secrets, here I come
But if all I am is a regenerated Phelan, then wouldn’t he just be dating himself?
Does that count as masturbation?

The scene with the arms had me laughing so hard. Great reviews once again!

Phelous, you should check out the reviews some people gave this movie on imdb. Makes me lose hope in humanity

So if Bean and Vincent knew each other from Game of Thrones does that mean that Vincent and Heather are brother and sister?
Wow what a mess of a film. A MESS! And I only have the rudement understanding of the series as a whole.
This had to be, hands down, the single worst video game adapted film I’ve ever watched. And I’ve unfortunately seen them all.

I heard a character in this movie say “I made a WRONG TURN” How the Hell could you not mention the inbreds being in Silent Hill.
WHO THE HELL DIRECTED THAT MOVIE? PAUL WS ANDERSON?
