(If I were to wager a guess, it was one of the original concepts of the “final hit
system from the original game that the liked enough to leave as is. You know, before they decided the final hit was a way to murder people.)
My favorite WTF scene from the final battle was when Shang Tsung is standing at the top of the stairs. He does his “YOU. WILL. DIE.” taunt and Liu Kang then runs up the stairs… and we get to watch the entire time, just him running up the stairs. With the camera panning along his run the entire time with a wide angle. Just silence and running and Liu Kang being out of breath slightly before he starts talking to Shang Tsung. It was always such a weird scene to me.
Here’s something I never understood. Sonya Blade was based on Cynthia Rothrock. Cynthia worked with Robin Shou around the time Mortal Kombat was filmed. Was she too busy with “Fast Getaway 2” to play Sonya in this movie? Was Bridgette Wilson really that much bigger of a box office draw?
It really would’ve elevated Mortal Kombat to have the real Sonya Blade in it.
Phelous, what were you trying to do with the “God of uselesssss” thing? You’re nowhere NEAR as good as the guy who played Sub-Zero in Mortal Komedy. Thank god HE interfered in the review to show YOU how it’s done.

I’m sorry. I can’t even finish watching this review. How in the world can you have ANY respect for the Mortal Kombat movie? Granted, it’s not the worst video game adaptation but it still sucks ass. The script, direction and line delivery is laugh out loud bad (with the exception of Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa. He was the only redeemable character in the whole movie).
The comic relief KILLED the movie. So many BAD jokes. The Raiden laugh is great but for all the wrong reasons.
You seriously need to do a 3rd review of Silent Hill aka THE BEST VIDEO GAME ADAPTATION OF ALL TIME!!!!!

I can usually listen to things that have a different viewpoint on something than myself. It’s not nessicarly going to sway my judgement on the topic at hand but I can hear where they are coming from. I don’t only watch videos to hear my own opinion echoed through someone else so that I can feel validated.
I’ve said numerous times why I think the Silent Hill movie was an awful adaptation save the look and a few bits. You like the film? Good for you, go on liking it. I really like the 1st Mortal Kombat film, I’ll go on liking it.

hehe. i find it amusing when your talking about lui kang, saying hes one of the cheapest characters, while fighting against mileena ( one of the characters who does accually break MK2). he can be annoying though
awww “that guy?” his name is Art. it was obvious from the first time you saw him he was going to be tragically killed, but i still thought he was cool just because i thought it was kind of interesting seeing the earth realm warriors who dont have any special powers. i always wanted him to show up as some kind of cameo in a game
hey and stop pointing out how silly reptile is, the fight scene with him is one of my favorites because of that rockin KMFDM song and the action. he did look like ass though as the little cgi lizard thing

Why is it that people only refer to Mortal Kombat as Paul W Anderson only good movie? Event Horizon was one helluva good scifi horror flick too! Such an underrated gem… *shrugs* But yes, everything after that was crap…

Personally, when I’m not complaining about shows that people put hard work into and I don’t have to pay for, I choose to hang out with my family. we often have ourselves a party.

This was a great review/analyzation of the Mortal Kombat movie. It’s also proof like I commented in the My Bloody Valentine that I think your material and jokes are better than what was in your crossovers. I’m glad Lupa didn’t show up making you guys do awkward sarcastic fourth-wall breaking jokes.
I never understood that about Reptile. Easily the most confusing thing in the whole movie plot-wise. Do the statues have some weird ability to eat lizards and turn them into people? And then of course other members of Reptile’s race show up in the next movie with no explanation (LIKE EVERYTHING ELSE IN THAT MOVIE).Even the people who hate this movie have to agree that it’s a godsend compared to Annihilation.
Actually surprised you didn’t make a joke about Goro throwing the same three or four guys over and over again in that montage. Or mentioned how Jax was a completely pointless character in this movie. But then again, I guess they’ve already been made anyway.

I saw the movie BEFORE I played an MK game, so I never had a problem with it. I just wish I could remember what 70s or 80s Hong Kong flick the plot was ripped off from.
If you’re gonna review the live action movies then you have to review the live action tv series, Mortal Kombat: Conquest! You must you have to you better you gotta! Come on, it’s got the star of Terminator 3 and Bloodrayne in it, Kristanna Loken. Those were quality movies, weren’t they? If you don’t, I’ll never forgive you for wasting your time replying to people telling you how you should do your show! Oh. I can taste the hypocracy. It tastes like Milwaukee’s Best beer and Marlboro cigarettes. Review it anyway! The people must know!
I’m planning to review Conquest. It’ll be a little bit sense I gotta watch it all through again 1st but it’s coming.
So I came into this review excited because I hated this movie and was expecting a traditional Phelous review. I was surprised when one of the first things you said was that it was an enjoyable film. I watched the entire review and I have to admit that you really bring up a lot of good points. Outside of the horrorshow that was Scorpion, Sub-Zero and Reptile, the rest of the characters were potrayed in a good way. I didn’t find Cage funny, but that is what it is.
I guess I’m just saying that this was a great video; really cool seeing you review a movie in a positive light. Maybe we can has Mortal Kombat: Annihilation next? Either way keep up the great work!
PS: I’m glad the crossovers are over too, but I think it’s just because I like my videos pure. Glad you guys got to spend time together though!

The 2nd movie I still like a tiny bit… kind of a guilty pleasure, but I do admit it’s flawed as hell!
Will you do a review of the Mortal Kombat Rebirth video and spinoff web series!? You wouldn’t have to do each individual episode, but just an over all review of what you thought of the series as a whole!
Also the movie they want to make as a sequel to that series with Scorpion as the lead this time!

So do I need to remind you what movie came out two years before Mortal Kombat that had wonderful looking CG reptiles,as well as extraordinary practical effects of course,but I’m talking about CGI here,so let’s stick with it.I know Paul W.S. Anderson was already trying to copy as closely as possible stuffs that worked very well on other movies,but not really on his owns.Sadly,considering the distance between the two movies’ budget,it was obviously a flawless victory as well as a fatality for the other movie.
But seriously,I think I found this CG Reptile way more convinving than any of the CG creatures in the new The Thing movie.
By the way,yes,I do love mentioning Carnosaur when I can.Geez,what other movie did you thought I was talking about featuring wonderful looking practical effects and CGI reptiles?

OMG Phelous, how dare you have crossover reviews! And how dare you review something that isn’t some lazy-ass slasher! And wow, how DARE you have a positive opinion of something?! I mean, I watch your videos to see you rage at stupidity and do (admittingly HILARIOUS) John Voight impersonations!
In all seriousness though, this review is awesome, I watch your videos because they are very funny and pick out the stupidty that seems to make it past the cutting room floor – I don’t watch them because I want you to tell me what my opinion should be of them! I find all your videos entertaining, crossover or not, slasher or not, positive or not. And that’s what they are, entertainment, and it’s something you do very well, so keep it up bro. I know we’re all entitled to opinion, and I’m sure that some people don’t like certain episodes for whatever reason, and the power of the internet and comments sections and like give us all the ability to instantly respond with our rage or affection or whatever. But just because we can, it doesn’t mean we always should – making sour comments about crossovers or whatever is just silly, in the end, it’s Phelan’s show and he should do it how he wants to do it, or simply not do it at all. I’m sure he appreciates his fans and values their feedback – but at least make it constructive. The last thing I’d want to see is for Phelous to change his show because too many people dissed one particular episode or style – in over 100 shows he has done a lot of different types of episodes. To me, and this is just my opinion, that’s a better way of doing it. Could you imagine how dull things would get for us, and for Phelan, if he just sat in the same spot, doing the same gags, reviewing the same genre and giving the same negative comments every week? I’m more than happy to have variety, and if there’s an episide I don’t like, then simply move on. I’m sure you don’t send rage letters to the studios if they produce one episode of your favourite sitcom that you don’t like – and if you do, lighten up!

I watched Mortal kombat like 60 times in a row without stopping the day I got it in the mail! It was such an awesome movie from what I remembered as a child so when I got it as an almost adult I watched the living shit out of it! Same with annhilation! It’s ssooo cool! <3
