    I enjoyed this review/commentary a lot more than I thought I would.

    Thanks.

As a small child I don’t remember watching Knight Rider, or even liking it when it ran in syndication. I much preferred Buck Rogers, The A-Team, and Battlestar Galactica re-runs back then, but you are 100% correct about Knight Rider and Hasselhoff being  a huge pop culture icon at the time.

If Arnold the muscled, macho, Commando star was the male movie Icon of the time, the Hoff was the TV guy. It was a time of glitz, glamour, and excess, and it all seems so earnest and naive in hindsight.

8:02-8:24 had me hysterically laughing. Man, I really should see Knight Rider. It’s on my binge list but I just haven’t gotten around to it yet. That last speech was really inspiring, especially when this year started out well for me in January and February.

I would say watch an episode or two, and that’s pretty much all you need. If you enjoy the camp and maximum 80’s-ness of it, by all means watch the series.

The reason I would say watch one first before diving into a binge is that it’s very formulaic, more than most shows of it’s time. It’s not non-stop crazy action, and the drama isn’t as goofy or ham-fisted as Baywatch,  in fact it’s kind of boring until the showdown with the stock TV villain before saving the pretty girl of the week because her father’s business is being threatened by mobsters, etc..
