Sounds like Paul Feig continues to direct characters that are simple one notes. In Spy you had Jason Statham as the vain idiot, Jude Law as the aloof pretty boy, then the the nerdy friend, the mean pretty girl, the creepy foreign guy, etc…

The way you describe this movie, it seems the supporting cast suffer from the same issues as in his other films, only here he’s slapping it on a franchise that was a lot less silly. Sure, you could say Louis was kind of a basic socially awkward nerd, but even he acted and spoke like an actual person, and Feig’s characters don’t act like people. That’s not to say they can’t be funny, just that it’s a bad fit for a franchise rooted in organic situational dialogue rather than zany sitcom style punchlines.

I’m just glad all this nonsense is over.

P.S. Wasn’t expecting to laugh in this rant/review, but Chris Hemsworth as Fearsome Flush delivered the goods.

So, what you’re saying is that you weren’t scared on Janine’s pointy glasses?

“-I feel bad even bringing that up” could’ve been a great tagline for this movie!
