Oh man, I can’t wait to see what you have to say about each season of this show. I’ve seen it all, not because I liked it, but because it was “the thing that was on after Angel,” while they were running an afternoon block of supernatural shows on TNT in syndication.
I don’t even know if I’d call it a guilty pleasure, because though I’ve seen the entire show, except for season 8 when it gets so bad I couldn’t even stand it as noise on in the background anymore, I wouldn’t go so far as to say I actually enjoyed it. It has fun moments, but like you say in the review, everyone is mostly a one note caricature and the plots are painfully sexist and “easy.”
I liked this show back in the day, well up to season 3 and Shanon’s departure that is. I could never get accustomed to the, ugh, half-sister plot-twist and Rose Mcgowan, so I never really watched anything beyond season 4. I entirely agree with the negative things you had to say about it though, especially about the weekly new love interest, even back then I thought it was annoying and shallow. That, combined with the extreme cheesiness of the show, are the reasons why I could never really take the show very seriously when comparing it to my absolute favorite series, Buffy, or even Angel. But I was really into series dealing with the occult and Charmed was the only other available out there. That and the very short-lived Witchblade series.
Hey Lupa, haven’t watched this video yet, but I thought this may interest you. On last saturday’s SNL, one of the sketches had a freakin’ Subspecies reference.
At least, I’m fairly sure it was. Fred Armisen was dressed up as a pale vampire-y count named Radu. I’d post a picture or something but I can’t find anything on it.
I remember watching this when it first came out, and missed one episode and just stopped watching, and now I am glad I did because I was pretty young and impressionable. Didn’t really realize how craptastic this show was. Sure its nice to have a boyfriend but it shouldn’t be your one and only goal in life besides a career. Plus frosted hair is really overrated.
Also this show is incredibly dated, that they made a reference to the Blair Witch Project in one episode, and it wasn’t even a clever reference it just stood out like a sore thumb. A very uncreative sore thumb.
P.S. The episodes with Billy Zane do look kind of fun though.
I can’t believe that our family chose to watch this throughout it’s entire series instead of Buffy. I remember absolutely nothing about it but the fact that we were fans of this series is rather mindbaffling. It’s basically the TV Show equivalent of MC Hammer style pants. (I rectified my mistake though.)
Oh no, I really wanted to watch this again but her Blip has gone and the stuff hasn’t been moved… man that’s really sad, I hope it returns soon, I loved these reviews ; w ;
Sorry man! I’m in the process of adding stuff to Daily Motion, but there’s a daily limit so it’s been slow-going. All I have left are Manic Episodes and random extras, which I expect to be finished within the next couple weeks at the most. I’ll replace it here when it’s up!
i know i should be ashamed, but i’m not, i love the first four seasons of that show, and i remember enjoying the 8th season when in aired.
It’s a mess, they had no plan for the series and it shows early on (even though they introduced many things in season 1 that could have made interesting overarching plots but were never explored). But i’m a mess and i love this mess.
It’s a show i think could benefit a remake if done by people who know what they’re doing and are more woke than Aaron Spelling and Co. (and don’t cast four white women again, be fucking diverse this time y’know? I could see Nicole Beharie as Prue)…

God I fucking despised that series. As an Irish person, the shit they did to our folklore and celtic culture was just cringe-worthy.
What year did Spelling pass away? Did the series get any better (or impossibly, worse) after that?

Oh, good! I was just rewatching Charmed and asking myself why I used to love it so much…
(The worst, imho, is Brian Krause’s acting… -_-)
Ok, now, I’ll watch your video…

It’s like if you took Quinn from Daria & made her 3 friends sisters & gave them magic.
Though I think that would have at least had more comedic value.

They all look like they are mentally challeged. And why does Lupa look like Bert from Sesame Street with a red wig on?
Thought so too.
This video reminds me why I never got into this show. I love the same kind of genre too, but I just never got hooked on Charmed.
Great job Lupa!

10:56 It’s the lovechild of Christopher Walken & Uncle Fester!

Don’t worry, Allison is working to fix anything of hers not up somewhere else yet. It shouldn’t be too long before you can see this again.
