If we’re lucky, they’re rebooting it so they can stay a bit closer to the game series next time. Like not having Alice exist at all, or at the very least not having her be Lara Croft meets Neo.
I never really understood why they kept the RE name. Even if it’s because they want name recognition to cash in on RE fans, anyone who has played the games knows the movies have less to do with RE than the Wiggles.
My favourite part of the “money shot” is that the coins were actually bigger than the bore of the shotgun.
Also, the Jill Valentine reveal? I didn’t recognise her at all, she’s not been in it since the second one. How am I supposed to remember what a non essential character looks like from two movies ago, especially when they’ve changed her looks as much as possible without actually changing the actor.
I didn’t get a choice on how to watch it, it was 3D or nothing. I wasn’t even aware it was available in 2D. I would have definitely opted for that version, at least then I might have actually clearly seen the action.
Yeah with that reveal of Jill at the end they are totally just baking off the fact you know who she is from the games to give a crap. Which, obviously, they shouldn’t be doing as Movie Jill Valentine is NOT Game Jill Vlaentine. Heh yeah the theatre I went to see it doesn’t do 3D so I knew I’d get it in good ol 2D which like I said made the parts where they obviously tried to play to the 3D gimmick look very out of place.
I also went to see the midnight showing while dressed like RE1 Jill. It was really depressing that only a small group of people recognized me. Hell, one person actually thought I was a police officer! At first I thought they were actually going to try after getting rid of Super Alice, I had too much hope. But it did surprise me that there were no naked Alice scenes. Nothing was right about this movie. Anderson was pretty much pushing “HEY REMEMBER THIS!? THIS WAS IN RE5! LOOK RE5 WASN’T THAT THE GREATEST GAME!? IT WAS A SHOOTER AND NOT HORROR SURVIVAL! IT ALSO HELPED MESS UP THE SERIES THAT IS WHY I LIKED IT! Look, Wesker said that in RE5! See what I’m doin thar!?” The characters were not portrayed correctly of course. Wesker just seemed so stupid were as in the games he actually is someone intelligent and uses Uroboros as a last resort. In the movie he just has the generic enemy plagas coming out of his mouth (which is now my nightmare) and that part was just so anticlimatic. Chris was not Chris, Claire was not Claire, Jill is what Jill shouldn’t have been. I got home from the movie at around 5am because I ranted to long to a friend about this shit movie. I am so glad, and not surprised, that you view this the same way. Also, I heard that there’s a hint fpr Resident Evil Revelations after the credits but I could not stand to stay that long.

Them saying the super Alicer powers are gone then having her do what she did in Afterlife made it even more ridiculous!
Yeah “LOVED” the RE5 refs… plus they didn’t have any place to be in the movies so yeah just cram it in who cares about sense making!
Chris yeah no reason to be there and who the hell is he in the movie universe? No one. Hey Claire I’m your brother. OH. Awesome guys! That NEEDED to be in there. Yeah the RE5 Jill thing pops up after a bit of the credits with her mind controlling spider thing on her chest, that’s so dramatic. Oh wait let’s just pull it off like everyone else! Actually after all the credits it just repeated Alice’s line “is that anyway to treat a lady?”.
Thanks for making up my mind about going to see this in the theater! I was thinking, well, I can’t expect anything Resident Evillish, but at least I can count on a whole movie consisting of an army of super women blowing up stuff, which I’m always on board for. And they bite it in the first scene?! Argh.
Heh yeah I loved the fact that clone army was the big ending of Extinction, then it hits them what a bad idea that is so OH they all die at the start. Even though I could hardly see ONE of the super Alice’s dying like that, nah like 17 just drop dead and no one cares a bit. One dies and another comes in to make a one liner about it. It’s like umm yeah I know it was a clone but she just died! I thought you loved yourself Alice!
Are the Alice clones all dressed the same? I really hope so, because that was one of the things that made me laugh the most during Extinction. That facility must’ve had a huge warehouse filled with copies of the red dress & boots outfit from the first movie! Why was it so important to dress the clones for their death test? Is there a clothing division of Umbrella and they needed the work during the apocalypse?
Heh yeah, they were all dressed the same in superduper custom armor and combat gear with specifically manufactured weaponry. Alice must have used most of the clones as slave labor in a sweat shop knocking this stuff out.
Of course the T-Virus gives you magic psychics powers an make you exsplosion proof, don’t you know anything?… oh wait it doesn’t it just makes you a zombie… A normal zombie… not a fast zombie who’s mouth splits open thats Las Plagas, just a zombie…
Film makers really don’t get this series do they? But who’s to blame… Us, the consumers. If we didn’t make these movies sucesful they wouldn’t make any more crappy sequals…

You touched on the drought getting retconned, but there was another part of Extinction that seemed to get retconned as well.
At one point in Extinction, Umbrella sends a signal from a satellite or something and shuts Alice down. Now they’re saying Alice got her powers from the T-cells in her body (which are shaped like the letter T, hardy har). It didn’t make sense then, and it makes even less sense now. Is there any explanation for how they shut her down any more? Did they control her through the T-cells? If they could shut her down, why not the other things with T-cells in them?
Honestly, at this point they’ve retconned a good deal of Extinction. They should have just said “Extinction blew hard ass” and completely taken it out of the continuity.
Also, having never played RE5, I felt quite lost throughout the movie. I had no clue what the giant with the axe/hammer was let alone how he came to be, I didn’t know what the metal spider things were, and I didn’t even recognize that it was supposed to be Jill at the end.
I give them kudos for not giving us another annoying “GTA, MOTHERFUCKER” comic relief character, though, and that alone makes me like Afterlife more than both Extinction and Apocalypse.
I’m suprised you didn’t die in a film related death, like multiple Phelouse clones walk into the room and the “real” phelous shot them all one at the time while all of them spouted stupid and sarcastic lines. Or somethin’ like that…

I hate when directors think they can just throw out character names like that and other general references, but rape everything else and think they’re still making a good movie. (Same applies to Pyramid Head in the Silent Hill movie, and in homecoming, just fan service that ruins the entire meaning of the character being there =\.)
What a stupid movie. I gave up after the first one. That movie was so lame. That CG one about Leon was cooler than this crap. I would love for you to review that stupid movie too, but I know you won’t since one person asking for you to do it is very selfish of me =p

This series has got to be the most inconsistent I’ve ever seen, not only did they ruin the Resident Evil name in film but they can’t even keep their own stories straight! These movies from day one have been Alice porn (literally and figuratively) and nothing more, they’re an insult to Resident Evil fans and movie goers in general. Well, that’s disappointing. I wasn’t holding out much hope after the description of the “reboot,” but there was always the chance that we’d get an actual Resident Evil movie someday. I guess I can always go watch Degeneration again… :/
The Virus Zombies are worldly known in this alternate reality. They are slow, Mindless (to a degree), and require to feed on meat (reference to several books based on these games and in some parts of the games themselves). That stated the plagas Zombies would be easily noticed as being different in not just view but smell and should have been swarmed (especially the executioner they used who walked up to the main gate). The virus zombies over time have been known to kill other weaker virus zombies to feed or to feed on the recently slain there is no point in saying after so long that they still shamble about trying to find just living prey and not fall victim to varying factors (Starvation [In some games and more emphasis in 28 days later], Dehydration/Overhydration [Emphasised in varying games, books, and ECT…], and coming across natural hazards [Tar, Fires, and ECT…]).
i had to watch this movie without laughing at the over the top antics of alice because my girlfriend is a HUGE “milla whatever her name is i can’t pronounce it and i don’t feel like looking it up” that i had to show how i was a better actor than all of those people except for wesker cus he’s the BEST! also i like luthor, other than wesker he was the only guy i cheered for. also also, chris being in this movie was such a tease, made me sad how he was used. (cue sad charlie brown xmas music)
