I’ll be honest, I thought by the title you meant the Japanese movie. The first time I watched this movie I when I was a kid was around the same time as I was shown other horror movies . I sort of lumped them together, but I still wondered if it was part of the Evil Dead series. Or universe. (Ah, IMDB what did we do without you?) That fish scene reminded me of the nightmare dear on the wall in Army of Darkness.

Actually, the nightmare deer head is from Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn.

by the time of Army of Darkness, Ash was already back in time, and the deer head was seen in the cabin.

According to my own IMDB research, this film’s director is the same one from Friday the 13th Parts 2 & 3, Halloween H20, and the remake of Day of the Dead (which Phelous reviewed in his earlier days).

The shift in tone reminds me of that in the Birdemic movies, but instead of from romance to horror, it’s from horror to comedy.  Also, the scenes of Roger burying bodies in the back yard with catchy music playing makes me think of a comedic boipic of Jeffrey Dahmer.

I also like the zombie look of the soldier guy.

12:33- You guys are sick whenever something shockingly bad happens to movie characters, and that’s one of the reasons I love ya guys.

The ex-wife becoming a demon looks like a horror version of the Grimace.

“it’s just a court show, right?”

Listen, Movie Nights Lady… Night Court was legitimately the greatest 80’s sitcom with a great cast playing a bunch of misfits who work the overnight shift in a NYC municipal courtroom. Of course this meant prostitutes, criminals, crazy people, cops, lawyers and any other night time denizen of the big city you can imagine. I love Night Court, and it holds up pretty well thanks to a great diverse cast and plenty of slapstick mixed in with the sharp jabs and gags.

Richard Moll is a great character actor, he plays “Bull” the gentle hearted, dumb, but noble bailiff (basically a courtroom security officer)

You guys did a House video! 😀 Omgyaaaay! -fan-flailing- I’ve been hoping for years that Phelous would do a video on this movie! And even better that we get to hear both of you talk about it.

House was the first horror movie I ever saw. I was waaay too young, and caught it on tv when my parents weren’t around. It traumatized me for just about forever! I had nightmares about that Ghoul and her high-pitched laugh. Even years later as a preteen if one of those songs came on the tv or radio I had to change the channel.

I wish House would get more attention! It certainly deserves a big cult following, but when I try to bring it up to horror fans most people haven’t even heard of it. The practical effects are pretty amazing, and the story is awesome. Comparing a plot like this, about war and survivor guilt and doubting your own sanity, to boring gore-fests like the stuff Eli Roth puts out, and you can hardly consider them to be the same genre.

I have to admit I’m a little confused about the classification of this as a comedy/horror. I even sat down and watched it again right after seeing this review, and I’m not sure where people are getting that it’s a comedy. It surely had some comedic characters, like the neighbor, and some funny scenes too, but the overall plot was definitely serious and a majority of the things that happen are pretty horrific. To me, that lands it out of the realm of comedy. (I mean, there’s some pretty funny lines and comedic characters in, say, Lord of the Rings, but we don’t consider that to be a comedy/action movie.)

Then again, maybe my history of being psychologically scarred from this movie has made it hard for me to see all the humor in it LOL. I still think the Ghoul is pretty terrifying! But regardless of how it’s classified, it’s truly an awesome movie. Thanks for reviewing it! (I see you bought the 2-pack, hope you review the zany House II someday as well!)

PS: I know that ‘reaction’ videos are a dime a dozen these days, but any chance the two of you might do a video on your reaction to the new Ghostbusters(2016) trailer? I’d love to know what you’re anticipating it will be like, now that they’ve released a lengthy trailer for it!

William Katt is the main character? You would think that a White Ghost wouldn’t be so spooked by ghosts.

(one random guy in the back): I get it!

I think we’d all like to see you review the Hausu movie.

Phelous: “Fuller House? Fuck off.” lol

There’s an 80s horror comedy you might enjoy called TerrorVision that is half extremely cheesy, extremely 80s comedy, half rubber puppet monster horror movie. You two might sit down together sometime & watch it, if you haven’t already seen it.
