Interesting game. (Or game-like simulation.) I think what I found funniest was the villain’s reaction upon miraculously not dying at the beginning. Clearly, the thing to do after having survived a fatal stab wound is to immediately assume you’re immortal, and start pushing your luck by engaging in more stab-heavy activities. This is why he’s a villainous thug: he doesn’t make good life decisions.

(Also, one of Hades’ henchmen at the end is totally Daken from the X-Men comics.)

I never really understood the Xena & Hercules world. It’s supposed to be ancient greece, but looks like medieval northern europe. You’d think white blankets for everyone to wear would be cheaper, but I guess it’s hard to get all those white stone structures and bright green landscapes.

The best part was actually a tiny thing most people probably missed. Gabrielle’s left eyeball wanders off for one second, making the derpiest thing I’ve seen in a good while.

I really enjoyed this one. Is it bad I want to play this after viewing this LP? My girlfriend and I are big point and click fans. Mostly stuff like Phantasmagoria and Gabriel Knight. This looks so 90s with that early 3d design. Kinda reminds me of Lions Head animation.

The graphics & animation are actually extremely good for their time compared to other video games in 1999 or 1995 (depending on what console version this is), but piss poor compared to the 1994 CG cartoon ReBoot.

I think Gabby was trying to pee on a fire hydrant.

Console version? I think she’s playing on pc. I don’t think they look bad for their time. Dunno if I’d say “extremely good” though. How it has aged does add to the humor of playing it, I think.

And yeah, Reboot is amazing! I’m rewatching it currently.

Using a branched stick to find water is a form of divination called “dowsing”. The stick, called a dowsing rod or divining rod, leads the dowser to water, usually to dig a well. This is actual folklore, still practiced today in parts of the U.S. See MST3k episode 805, The Thing That Couldn’t Die, for what happens when you accidentally set your stick on “Find immortal satanist” mode
